Space Week at Our Cambridge Nursery: Rockets, Astronauts and Imaginative Play at Monkey Puzzle Regent Terrace
Space Week has landed at Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Regent Terrace, and our Toddlers and Preschoolers have spent the week exploring the universe through imaginative play and story time. From building rocket ships to joining a bear on a trip to the moon, it has been a week packed with creativity, curiosity and plenty of early years learning right here in the heart of Cambridge.
Preschool Astronauts Prepare for Blast Off
Our Preschoolers threw themselves into the theme, dressing up as astronauts before getting creative designing and building their very own rocket ships. Once their rockets were ready, the whole room joined in a countdown to blast off. Activities like this give children the chance to plan, problem-solve and work together, all while having an enormous amount of fun.
Toddlers Journey to the Moon with Baby Bear
Our Toddlers took a gentler route into space with story time, reading Whatever Next! by Jill Murphy and following Baby Bear on his adventure to the moon. The story sparked lots of chatter about rockets and astronauts, and the children used their imaginations to dream up space adventures of their own. Sharing books like this builds vocabulary, listening skills and a love of stories that stays with children long after nursery.
Why Themed Weeks Matter in the Early Years
A week like this is about far more than dressing up. Imaginative play, story time and hands-on building help young children develop creativity, language, early maths through counting down, and the confidence to share their ideas with others. For your child, that means an early years experience that turns curiosity into real learning, in a nursery where every week brings something new to explore. Space Week is just one example of how we make childcare at Monkey Puzzle Regent Terrace both joyful and genuinely enriching.
