Lucy

Position:

Nursery Apprentice

About Me:

My name is Lucy, and I am an Apprentice in the Toddler Room at Monkey Puzzle Regent Terrace in Cambridge.

What fills your heart with happiness about your role?

The fact I get to be a part of a child’s most important time of growth completely fills my heart with happiness. Being that person who helps a child settle and make memorable learning experiences whilst away from their parents to prepare them for the next stages. To help support the children who may be quieter or reserved, find their comfort zone by finding ways that work for the individual rather than everyone.

How did you get your career started in Early Years?

This is my first experience; I have worked with Monkey Puzzle for 6 months as an apprentice after applying through indeed.

How do you get supported at Monkey Puzzle to develop and progress your career?

After my decision to leave university to pursue full time work, the management team were very understanding and supported me to start my level 3 in childcare through an apprenticeship. This means I can complete a qualification and gain experience at the same time.

What’s your potential next steps?

My next steps would be to finish and achieve my Level 3 in Childcare and complete as much additional training to heighten my knowledge.

What would you say to anyone with a choice of early years childcare as a possible career path?

It’s a wonderful job like no other, getting to be a part of a child journey whilst also improving and achieving vital life skills.
